UCSD Grad School: A long hiatus (3 mo) and back at blog
Quick update. I'm back at UCSD finishing my last year in my International Relations MA program. I decided to go International Politics track over Business or Econ. My classes this quarter are: (1) Making US Foreign Policy (love it!!), (2) International Business Strategy (Sony, Honda, WalMart case studies), (3) Program Design and Evaluation (working to help Fausto Gonzales, Mexico), (4) Chinese class (read newspaper articles, write essays, and give speeches).
My 5th class is Child Developmental Psychology, which I TA. TAing is sweet because my entire tuition is waived, along with health insurance, and I get paid $19 / hr for 20 hrs a week. You do the math.
I come back to school with this drastically different work ethic. State Dept really changed me. It showed me my direction, and what it means to sit there and do hard work for 9 hrs straight each day (sometimes overnight). I carry that back with me, and I haven't fallen behind one single page of reading. I usually get about 150 pages a day, at least.
I'm settling down with First Assembly of God in Mission Valley for fellowship. I love how those people are so on fire for God! Problem is that I don't have friends there yet. I'm kinda pioneering, but I would be blessed to dig in deep into fellowship with them. I'm looking forward to it.
